The West Papua Provincial Government (Pemprov) through the West Papua Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Service (DP3A) plans to build a business incubator, in the Sanggeng area, West Manokwari District, Manokwari Regency.
This was revealed in a meeting and socialization of the importance of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with dozens of young West Papuans, in Sanggeng, Saturday (9/7/2022) WIT.
"This is a special program for Sanggeng's children," said the Head of West Papua DP3A, Elsina Y. Sesa.
He explained that Sanggeng's youth had potential but had not yet been developed.
Through this program, it is hoped that young people will be fostered to become Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
"So we built a place like a start-up company," he said.
During the meeting, he continued, young Sanggeng proposed six programs.
These include motorcycle washes, barbershops, coffee shops, workshops, and others.
"They know the potential of each of them. For example, there are those who are good at shaving their hair," he said.
According to him, the first step is to change the mindset of young Sanggeng towards business opportunities.
Thus, the implementation of the program runs optimally and provides benefits for Sanggeng's children.
"We first change the way of thinking," he said.
He continued, so far there have been many training programs run by the government for Papuan youth.
However, the program was not followed by good assistance.
As a result, young Papuans find it difficult to apply the knowledge during the training to the world of work.
"For Manokwari our focus is on Sanggeng, after that we go down to one area in Teluk Bintuni Regency," he said.
