The Jayapura Regency Government says that cooperatives have a role in improving the people's economy

The Regency Government (Pemkab) of Jayapura, Papua Province ensures that cooperatives have an important role in improving the people's economy, especially business actors in the village.

Assistant II for Economic Affairs at the Regional Secretariat of Jayapura Regency, Joko Sunaryo, in a press release received by Antara in Jayapura, Saturday, said that in the future, cooperatives must have business types according to regional potential, such as in the fields of fisheries and agriculture.

"So it's not just focused on savings and loan businesses but also others so that cooperatives in Jayapura Regency continue to move forward to improve the economy of the village community," he said when closing the cooperative management training for cooperative administrators.

According to Joko, the various trainings held by the government aim to increase the knowledge of cooperative management so that their management is carried out properly and brings prosperity.

"We hope that in the future the cooperatives in development areas one and two will also see these potentials and can be developed," he said.

He also hopes that participants who take part in the training can apply the knowledge received when returning to the village so that the goal of advancing cooperatives can be realized.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Jayapura Regency Cooperatives and UMKM Office, Hariyanto, said that through future training, cooperatives that had been inactive so far would be encouraged to become active again.

"Later on, for the supervision and coaching process, we will be assisted by these three to have a temporary assistant who will work," he said.

Previously, the Jayapura Regency Cooperatives and UMKM Service provided cooperative management training which lasted for four from 19-22 June 2022.
