Bali Bodybuilding Coach I Wayan Bun Setiady is optimistic that Erwin Adianto in the 85kg + class has the opportunity to win a gold medal in PON Papua XX / 2021.
The reason is, after Pre PON in Bandung in 2019, Erwin Adianto was able to win a gold medal at an international event in Gorontalo. At that time Erwin Adianto shifted the achievements of other athletes above him during the 2019 Pre PON.
"With the same opponents, only a matter of three months Erwin Adianto was able to turn things around. For us this extraordinary achievement is in the two major international events. Positive progress is clearly visible," said Wayan Bun Setiady.
The man who is also the Chairman of the Gianyar PABBSI stressed, because PON is still more than a year, then anything is possible. Especially seeing the phenomenon of displacing each other bodybuilding athletes in the class 85 kg +. In terms of opportunities there is still hope, especially in that class no one dominates.
'' We are sure to get a medal. The most important is the medal first. The gold, silver and bronze medal is situational. So now we continue to practice continuously at the Ubud Gianyar Gym Massas. Fitness is also routinely carried out every day, "said Wayan Bun Setiady.
According to Bun Setiady, rivals will come from East Java and Banten athletes. In East Java there are golden athletes, and in Banten there are experienced senior athletes. So the competition will be really tight.
Whereas for one more athlete M Zainudin in the 65 kg class is still being encouraged, considering he passed as a substitute athlete. When Pre PON M Zainudin entered the top six and passed PON as a substitute, after it was later revealed that one of the top-ranked athletes indicated doping.
"For M Zainudin we still encourage maximum. Because, bodybuilding is not the peak day of competition which is very decisive. But the process to build muscle to the maximum," said Wayan Bun Setiady.
He acknowledged there were still opportunities as long as time was maximized for preparation. And, for rivals in its class M Zainudin came from the host athlete Papua.
