Ministry of Youth and Sports Distributes Aid to Athletes

The Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) will distribute assistance to athletes as one of the government activities related to refocusing or changing the use of the budget in handling the COVID-19 pandemic. Assistance provided in the form of masks, hand sanitizers, supplements, and hand washing soap.

"We have budget refocusing, and as the Ministry of Youth and Sports concerns to stakeholders, we will provide packages in the form of vitamins, hand sanitizers, masks, and soaps," said Menpora Zainudin Amali in Jakarta.

Not only for athletes, assistance will also be distributed to all parent sports branches, Student Education and Training Centers (PPLP), and all Special Sports Schools (SKO) in Indonesia.

As a result of the government's program which is currently focused on handling the corona virus, the Ministry of Youth and Sports's budget has been cut by Rp564 billion, from Rp1.73 trillion to Rp1.17 trillion.

Some sectors that have budget reallocations include budget items for the implementation of PON and Peparnas and sending athletes to various multievent championships. Budget refocusing is used by the Ministry of Youth and Sports to carry out a variety of activities, including aid programs.

In addition to the aid program, budget reallocation is also used to conduct youth and sports webinar activities, online discussions, short courses, to gymnastics competitions.

"We invite financial and investment experts to be able to provide knowledge on how to manage finances," Zainudin said.
