Passenger traffic at Sentani Airport during February 2022 increased by 37 percent

Sentani Airport management noted that passenger traffic increased by 37 percent or as many as 120,550 people in February 2022 when compared to the same period in 2021, which was 88,041 people.

Stakeholder Relations Manager Sentani Airport Surya Eka in a press release in Jayapura, Tuesday, said that with the issuance of regulations from the COVID-19 Handling Task Force regarding domestic travel requirements on Tuesday (8/3) where in the latest regulations, the results were negative. RT-PCR test or antigen rapid test is no longer an absolute requirement for traveling within the country for travelers who have met the requirements.

"So the daily traffic at Sentani Airport has increased by 19 percent, where the average is 4,300 passengers from the previous 3,600 passengers per day," he said.

According to Surya Eka, his party predicts that there will be an increase of about 20-40 percent of arriving and departing passengers at Sentani Airport after the provisions for the Guidelines for the Implementation of Domestic Travel With (PPDN) are relaxed.

"We always urge all service users to continue to comply with applicable travel regulations and maintain the application of health protocols," he said.

He explained that his party also urges prospective passengers to fill in the "e-HAC" in the Cares Protect application before departure or at the latest a day before the flight schedule.

"Sentani Airport in Jayapura has recorded a 37 percent increase in passengers in February 2022, with the movement of arriving and departing aircraft increasing by 18 percent compared to last year with the same period in February 2021," he said.

He added that during this period there was the highest number of departing passengers on February 5, 2022, namely 2,650 passengers, while the highest number of arrivals of 2,535 passengers fell on the same date, which on that day was the highest total passenger of 5,185 in the February 2022 period.
