The Potential of Each Region of Papua is Developing, Evidence of Right on Target Development

The potential possessed by each region in Papua continues to experience significant development. This is proof that indeed the development that the Government continues to intensify during the era of President Jokowi's leadership is very right on target and also effective.

Indonesia has so far been known as a country that has abundant natural resource wealth, this cannot be separated from Papua with the abundance of their natural resources. However, this wealth has not been able to really be utilized optimally and optimally, before finally in the era of the leadership of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, who continued to strive to make development equitable in Indonesia and make Cenderawasih Land a priority for its development.

Therefore, the development policy in Papua, which is concrete evidence of President Jokowi's strong commitment through the establishment of a Presidential Instruction (Inpres), has become one of the main focuses of the Government of Indonesia in recent times, because there has indeed been such a large gap.

The Papua development program is not only related to Trans Papua, but includes many other things including the provision of electricity and also the construction of various other types of infrastructure. The purpose of the various project policies is to be able to break the economic isolation that has so far occurred in Papua so that all Papuan people are able to experience a much better life. In addition, the Government is indeed continuing to strive to realize equitable development with the ultimate goal of encouraging national economic growth as a whole.

One of the things that has happened is South Papua, which the Government continues to encourage to become a food storage facility so that it can support national food security, especially in eastern Indonesia. This is actually a potential that is owned by South Papua, but so far it has not been able to be optimized.

Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ma'ruf Amin said that all parties must continue to focus on making South Papua a national food barn, be it through rice centers, fishery centers to animal husbandry centers. According to him, the exploration of South Papua itself as an area that has the potential to support food storage must continue to pay attention to the views of all local communities.

Therefore, the involvement of indigenous Papuans (OAP), who are the elements who best understand land in their own area, is very important in the entire development process. The Vice President emphasized that there should be an integrated approach formulated with all parties, even from upstream to downstream and also ensured the involvement of indigenous Papuans in it.

On this occasion, Vice President Ma'ruf Amin himself invited all parties to be able to jointly continue to accelerate the development of the welfare of the Papuan people. Meanwhile, the Regent of Merauke, Romanus Mbaraka, said that South Papua has abundant food potential, such as agriculture, fisheries, plantations, animal husbandry and horticulture.

In fact, according to him, agricultural products in the region can be enjoyed by other regions because their rice production and meat production are very abundant. The abundance of all these potentials has finally been able to be truly fulfilled and developed far more optimally thanks to the government's development efforts.

On another occasion, the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) argued that Papuan coffee could become a commodity that could boost the economy of the entire Cenderawasih Earth community, so it needed support from the Government. Deputy for Regional Development of Bappenas, Himawan Harioga stated that several areas in Papua do have coffee development potential.

So far, consolidation has been carried out by the Government with many parties related to the four new provinces in Papua, namely Southwest Papua, Highlands Papua, Central Papua and South Papua. This consolidation was even carried out together with the owners of customary rights so that indeed all development carried out by the Government had been carried out with the right target and touched the needs of the community.

Papuan Political Observer and Cenderawasih University, Diego Romario de Fretes even emphasized that the development of the province in the New Autonomous Region of Papua has not damaged the forest ecosystem at all. Even the enthusiasm of the people who are actively and directly involved in supporting the acceleration of development in Papua is increasing day by day.

The presence and existence of the Papua Steering Committee (BPP), which is in accordance with Article 68 A (UU No 2/2021) and PP No 106/2021 according to the Observer on Papua Issues, Frans Maniagasi has carried out his duties and functions, namely carrying out integrated coordination, synchronization , harmonization, evaluation to reporting both conceptualization and practice to ministries and agencies (K/L) and Provincial, Regency/City Governments to continue to ensure that every stage of the accelerated program and development funds including the special autonomy funds are on target and effective.

It is undeniable that the development of Papua that has been intensified by the Government since the era of President Joko Widodo's leadership is very right on target. Evidence of the accuracy of this target is the development of potential in each region in Papua so that all of them are truly able to process all of their natural resource wealth far more optimally.
