Regarding Racist Posts on Social Media, West Papua Police Ask Residents Not to be Provoked



The Regional Police (Polda) of West Papua, asked all people in Manokwari Regency not to be provoked by racist posts to Papuan Mamas (Arfak Tribe) on social media. This was conveyed by the Head of Public Relations of the West Papua Police, Kombes Pol. Adam Erwindi.

"Don't let this thing be swallowed raw to inflame people's anger and break harmony in West Papua," said Adam.

For this reason, his party requested that the community (Chief of the Tribe) not be provoked by this sentence.

"Don't be provoked by words uploaded on social media," he said.

So far, the Manokwari Police have received a police report (LP), and will immediately follow up on the case.

"So far, several witnesses have taken statements related to the case," said Adam.

"Let's restrain ourselves and leave the case to the Police."

Meanwhile, the police have also conducted an investigation into the owner of the Facebook account. From the results of the witness' examination, there is a resident with the initials M who is known to be the owner of a Facebook account. Incidentally, M has moved house to Waropen Papua, and an examination has been carried out on his family in Manokwari.

Thus, explaining that the person concerned has left Manokwari Regency in 2020.

Currently, the Manokwari Police Chief has coordinated with the Waropen Police regarding the whereabouts of the person who owns the Facebook account.
