The arrival of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to Papua to examine Papua Governor Lukas Enembe, and collect new evidence related to the case that dragged the number one person in Papua, received a positive response from the Papuan people.
The chairman of the Papua Province State Defense Forum, Sarlens LS Ayatanoi, said that his party fully supports the efforts of the KPK, which has been carrying out its constitutional duties for the past week on Cenderawasih Earth. The anti-corruption agency has investigated Lukas as a suspect and searched several houses and private offices around Jayapura.
"I fully support what the KPK is doing to investigate every existing case in accordance with its functions and authorities," said Sarlens in Jayapura.
In the view of this Serui-born youth, the KPK has carried out its duties properly, both in examining Luke and in searching the homes of the parties concerned. Everything took place in a peaceful atmosphere, without the turmoil as many previously feared.
In Sarlens' observations, in the districts in the Papua region there are many irregularities in the use of special autonomy funds (Otsus). In fact, many officials from political parties use the Otsus money for the sake of growing their parties. Sarlens asked the KPK to carry out its duties to the end, so that in the future, the same case will no longer be carried out by Papuan leaders to replace Lukas.
''Actually not only Mr. Luke. There are many (corruption) cases that are also born in areas that need to be resolved. There are too many cases in the regencies, the KPK needs to intervene to resolve them," said Sarlens.
When the Corruption Eradication Committee did not come to investigate the Governor of Papua, continued Sarlens, he was pessimistic that the state would not have the courage to face the suspect Lukas Enembe, whose residence is always closely guarded by hundreds of masses of Lukas' supporters.
"Before the KPK arrived, there was pessimism that the state could not handle this case," said Sarlens.
But after the KPK came, Sarlens admits, that pessimistic feeling has changed.
''Our optimism rose again,''said Sarlens.
The KPK, continued Sarlens, came with a new spirit for the Papuan people. Passion to solve problems without violence.
“We should also have a pure conscience to think that when there is a violation committed by a regional head and when there is attention from the Center for carrying out an examination, please stop that violence. Because with violence, any problem cannot be solved, but it will create new problems,'' concluded Sarlens.
