The Regent of Jayapura, Mathius Awoitauw opened the implementation of the Branch Work Meeting (Rakercab) of the 2603 Kwartir Branch of the Scout Movement (Kwarcab) Jayapura Regency, Friday (18/2/2022), at a well-known hotel in Sentani City.
Present at the opening ceremony were the Head of the Papua Regional Quarter, the Head of the Jayapura Regency Branch Quarter, the Head of the Jayapura Regency Branch Service Quarter, the OPD Leaders, TNI, Polri and Scout members throughout the Jayapura Regency.
Jayapura Regent, Mathius Awoitauw in his remarks before opening the Rakercab said, Scouting is the oldest organization in the world that has produced many national leaders. Both globally, nationally and regionally and in particular in Jayapura Regency.
"Day by day, with technological advances that continue to grow more rapidly. Scouts are expected to be able to compete with this in their own way, providing opportunities and hope for our young generation in today's modern times,” he said.
The regent said, today's challenge is how the implementation of the Special Autonomy Law (UU Otsus) really must be implemented. It is hoped that in the near future the President of the Republic of Indonesia can issue a Presidential Regulation (Perpres) regarding the master plan for the acceleration of development in Papua and West Papua for the next 20 years.
“As a Kamabicab, I hope the Scout movement can also take these things seriously. Thus, there is a special color for Scouts in Papua, especially in Jayapura Regency," he explained.
He also congratulated the entire Scout movement under the Jayapura Kwarcab who will carry out the Rakercab, with the hope that there will be the best results to be formulated as a mainstay work program at the Jayapura Kwarcab.
"To all those who have supported the implementation of the current Rakercab, on behalf of the government, I would like to express my gratitude and the success of the Scouting movement in Jayapura Regency, with new work programs and sustainable development of the younger generation," he said.
In the same place, the Chair of the Jayapura Regency Kwarcab, Aleks Dusai said, this Rakercab will focus more on evaluating work programs in the previous year which did not run, even a number of activities and competitions were not carried out at the Gugus Depan (Gudep) and Kwartir Branch levels.
Furthermore, the work program is also directed to a number of national level events and competitions.
"The current pandemic has had an impact on the entire series of activities and competitions as well as the preparation of events at the Gudep, Kwaran and national levels. We will evaluate these things and look for the best formula and re-coordinate with the regional quarters to the national quarters," he said.
