The Papua Provincial Government provides social assistance for warakawuri and hero families as well as medical personnel who handle Covid-19 on Cenderawasih Earth.
The social assistance was handed over to the yard of the Governor's Office Dok II Jayapura, in commemoration of the 75th Independence Day of Indonesia on Cenderawasih Earth, Friday (14/8/2020).
"The delivery of social assistance is a form of appreciation for those who receive it. In essence, social assistance is a form of love for the families of heroes, warakawuri as well as medical personnel, ”explained the Head of the Committee for the 75th Indonesian Independence Day of Papua Province, Muhammad Musa'ad, on the sidelines of the social assistance handover.
He said that the delivery of aid to the families of heroes and warakawuri was considered important to do, because it was a form of appreciation for the services of their predecessors who pushed for Indonesia's independence.
Likewise, medical personnel are also seen as heroes because they have sacrificed time, energy and attention to deal with and overcome Covid-19.
"Because in the past, many struggled for independence by physically defending the country. Unlike today, many of them are also struggling to provide a good and decent life for society. And that's where one of the roles of medical personnel is currently struggling to tackle Covid, "he said.
Head of the Papua Province Social, Population and Civil Registry Office, Ribka Haluk said the handover of social assistance was a routine agenda to commemorate the Indonesian Independence Day.
However, the handover of social assistance is a tribute to the families of fighters and warakawuri who have fought to fill independence.
"It is the same for medical personnel, this is to appreciate those who have fought for the nation and state. Because they are fighting selflessly by risking their lives to tackle Covid, "he said.
It is known, in addition to the agenda of handing over social assistance, in a series of activities for the Republic of Indonesia's Independence Day, the Papua Provincial Government has also held a blood donor social activity with a target of 120 bags which will be handed over to PMI for people in need.
Meanwhile, for the peak of the Republic of Indonesia's Anniversary, a flag ceremony will be held at the yard of the Jayapura Governor's Dok II office, attended by limited invitations.
