Free Internet Quota for Papuan Students at UNJ Jakarta

Presidential Special Staff Billy Mambrasar distributed free internet data quotas to Papuan students studying at the Jakarta State University (UNJ).

He distributed internet quota after receiving complaints regarding the difficulty of accessing online learning due to the limited ability to buy internet quota due to the corona virus pandemic or COVID-19.

"Our team received the confidences of Papuan younger siblings who studied at UNJ two weeks ago, when I went to campus, and as their older brother, I was touched by his heart to come down and help, so last Tuesday I came to the UNJ campus in Rawamangun, Jakarta. East, "said Billy in Jayapura City, Papua.

Previously, in early August 2020 Billy and the team brought basic needs assistance to the Papuan students.

Billy conveyed about his consistent vision to continue to realize his mission to help as many Indonesian children as possible, especially those from Papua, who are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, one of which is to provide social assistance in the form of basic necessities and free internet data quota.

"The Chancellor of UNJ, Dr. Komarudin, M.Si, accompanied by Deputy Chancellor III and officials in the campus environment and two student representatives from Papua, welcomed my arrival and regarding the vision to help Indonesian children who were studying," he said.

According to him, the COVID-19 pandemic has made it difficult for Papuan children who study in Jakarta to access education online, the scholarships they receive are limited, the pocket money they receive from parents is also limited.

"And they find it difficult to buy internet quota. I decided to donate my salary to buy the internet quota. I will also install free wifi internet in the dormitory where I live, which I will pay for the next year," said Billy.

At that moment, Billy admitted to discussing a number of joint plans with the Chancellor of UNJ in human resource development, which is a priority for Indonesia's development, in the second period of President Joko Widodo's administration, by making UNJ an education-based institution that can help realize this vision.

"I give my deep appreciation to UNJ, for the attention given to these Papuan children. I hope that UNJ can become a benchmark in implementing programs that support the Affirmation scholarship program which is pushed by the government," he said.

Billy Mambrasar hopes to get support from related SOEs, for example Telkomsel, to support the free internet assistance program for student children, not only at UNJ, but also at other campuses, both in Jakarta and other study cities.

Meanwhile, student representatives who were also present at the meeting said they were grateful and grateful for the government's attention through Billy Mambrasar's Special Staff.

"Hopefully we can use this assistance to support our teaching and learning process here," said Samuel Doko, one of the representatives of affirmation scholarship recipients at UNJ.
