The ICRC Delegation Was Impressed and Amazed By The Steps Of Pangkogabwilhan III In An Effort To Solve The Papua Problem

"Since the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, General TNI Andika Perkasa took office, he has a policy of managing conflicts that occur in Indonesia, which must be resolved by applicable laws using the Humanist method, because at this time the central government is aggressively pushing for the acceleration of development in the most remote areas. In Eastern Indonesia, the definition is that the TNI must be the protector of the people, it must be the solution. Therefore, the TNI carries out territorial development using the KOMSOS method.

During the visit of the Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Pangkogabwilhan III Lt. Gen. TNI I Nyoman Cantiasa, SE, M.Tr. (Han), said that currently Papua is generally in a good and conducive condition, although there are some points of dynamic prominence by groups that commit crimes, we will take measured and decisive steps if needed to assist the Police in law enforcement.

Papua is not a DOM (Military Operations Area) status because its status is normal, the same as other regions, here we carry out coaching, mentoring, supervising activities and also filling empty spaces that cannot be filled by the Regional Government such as being a teacher in remote areas, as a Health workers in order to assist the health of the people and the Government in Papua, all of this was done at the request of the regional government, said Pangkogabwilhan III in a discussion with the ICRC related to the humanist approach carried out by the TNI in the Papua region in a Courtesy Meeting with the ICRC which was held in the Meeting Room of the Rimba Papua Hotel, Timika Mimika Papua, Monday (21/3/2022).

On that occasion Pangkogabwilhan III emphasized our tagline "TNI is Us", the TNI comes from the people and the TNI is the same as the people, even now there are many members of the TNI from Papua, we must humanize the Papuan people as in other regions in Indonesia. It is hoped that the ICRC can assist the TNI in developing Papua and West Papua in the field of quality health for the Papuan people or assistance for PMI in Indonesia, especially in Papua, such as ambulance assistance or maybe helicopter helicopters for PMI (Indonesian Red Cross)," said Pangkogabwilhan III.

The presence of the ICRC in Papua in addition to the task of humanitarian assistance, Health also introduces material on International Humanitarian Law (IHL), especially for soldiers who will carry out assignments abroad or take part in assignments at the United Nations.

The head of the ICRC Regional Delegation to Indonesia and Timor-Leste, Alexandre Faite said, “The general's humanitarian and legal approach is extraordinary! "We are ready to provide assistance to support humanitarian activities that have been carried out by generals and we consider the presence of the TNI to be very much needed in Papua and West Papua, considering that only the TNI is ready to go out to help the community in any situation and condition," he concluded.
