Papuan athletes who are projected to undergo the XX National Sports Week (PON) training camp in 2021 will undergo a Covid-19 health check.
The Secretary of KONI Papua, Kenius Kogoya, said that there were 445 main athletes who would conduct TC centralization at the athletes' homestead, however, before that, a medical examination would be conducted to detect the spread of Covid-19.
"We are preparing a third party that will manage the athletes' homestead and the KONI Office. I hope Puslatprov can carry out tests to detect the spread of Covid-19. We want to ensure that the athletes' conditions are safe, healthy, and not infected with the corona virus, "explained Kenius.
He said, the PON 20 Papua event will compete in 37 sports by preparing 1,028 athletes.
However, 445 centralized main athletes are included in the centralized TC, where 52 athletes 'accuracy sports, 51 athletes' martial arts sports, 83 measured sports and 259 sports sports.
The same thing was conveyed by the Deputy Chairperson of the Papua Provv Training Center II, Lt. Col. Inf Asep Supriyanto. He said the swab health check was to detect the early exposure to Covid-19 that had occurred for athletes who were undergoing training camps.
Especially in the near future, athletes who are categorized as the main athletes of centralization will join the athletes' guesthouse in the Mandala Jayapura Stadium area.
"Puslatprov will certainly carry out a Rapid Test or swab examination for athletes both in Jayapura and those who come from outside Papua. So the examination will be handled immediately before entering the athletes' homestead, "he concluded.
