The new status of Papuan Governor Lukas Enembe (LE) as the head of a large Papuan tribe continues to be controversial. The legality of the parties who confirmed Lukas Enembe as the head of a large tribe was questioned.
Dominikus Sorabut, who claimed to be the chairman of the Papuan Customary Council (DAP) that appointed Lukas, turned out to be the chairman of the independent Papuan version of the DAP.
The statement was made by a leader of the Wikaya Tribe, Herman Yoku who is currently also a member of the Papuan People's Assembly (MRP).
“This customary council is an organization that I formed, I was the chairman of the adat council, so DAP is my home. I was just surprised that a customary council went to inaugurate a tribal chief in someone else's customary area. It doesn't make sense to me. I want to ask, Dominic Sorabut, what are you as? It's not a tribal chief," said Herman in Sentani, Jayapura Regency, Friday, October 14, 2022.
According to the former chairman of the Keerom Customary Council, Dominikus Sorabut is the chairman of the independent Papuan KLB version of the DAP, the KLB initiated by the Forkorus Yaboisembut group in 2011.
Herman only acknowledged that DAP was under the leadership of Yan Piet Yarangga, who was re-elected based on the results of the 4th Great Papuan Indigenous Peoples Conference (KBMAP) in Kaimana Regency in 2021.
“I lowered Forkorus because it was not in line with the mission of the Customary Council. Because the task of the customary council is to protect all indigenous peoples, preserve culture, and re-elevate the values of culturalists and artists," said Herman.
Therefore, for Herman, the inauguration of Luke Enembe by Dominikus Sorabut needs to be straightened out, namely Luke as the head of a large tribe in the mountainous region.
“For me, Luke's father is the chief of the tribe in his village. Tribal chiefs in Puncak Jaya or in Tolikara, or in Nduga. But as far as I know, there is only one Jaya Wijaya tribal chief, namely Silo Karno Doga, the son of Obahorok. Today, the chief of a large tribe in Jaya Wijaya is his son Silo Doga, or his grandson Obahorok," said the Head of the Wikaya Tribe Awiy Souyo, a large tribe that inhabits the RI-PNG border area in Keerom.
The inauguration of a tribal chief, added Herman, is always carried out in his own customary area, not in someone else's customary territory. The person who performs the inauguration ritual is also not another person, but must have a direct lineage with the inaugurated person.
“So that worms in the ground may be seen, scorpions on the ground, humans above the ground, then nature will witness, and the one who is more powerful is God who will witness. Like me, I am confirmed by my ancestors. It can't be done by other people, because it must be from their descendants, "said Herman.
Regarding the alleged corruption allegations against Lukas Enembe, Herman asked the KPK to act more seriously. If necessary, President Jokowi will act so that the law is truly enforced throughout Papua.
"The state cannot lose to the corrupt. If the state loses, the corrupt will crush us all," concluded Herman.
