The inauguration of Papuan Governor Lukas Enembe as the Head of the Papuan Tribe by the Papuan Customary Council (DAP) led by Dominikus Sorabut, continues to reap rejection. The inauguration which was carried out on October 8, 2022 at Enembe's house, in Koya Tengah, Jayapura, was deemed not to be in accordance with the DAP statutes.
“In the DAP statutes and in the DAP operational guidelines, there is no term inauguration of the Papuan Chief of the Papuan Tribe. What exists is that the position of tribal chief is a hereditary position within the tribes in Papua," said Deputy Chair of the Youth and Children Department of the Bethel Church of Indonesia, Papua Province, Isac Imbiri, in a statement received by the editors, Sunday (16/10).
The Deputy Chairperson of the Young Generation of Reformers of Indonesia (GEMPAR) in Papua emphasized that the inauguration of the Chief of the Papuan Nation was wrong and very unreasonable. "Because above the tribal chief there is only God, there is no longer a tribal chief above the tribal chief," he said.
Isac said, there are two versions of DAP. The DAP led by Dominikus Sorabut and the DAP that has legitimacy are the DAP led by Yan Piet Yerangga and Leo Imbiri. He considered that the DAP, which had confirmed Lukas Enembe as the head of a large tribe, had disappointed the tribes, tribal chiefs, and all Papuans. Isac suspects that DAP has certain interests in appointing Lukas to be the head of a large tribe.
Regarding the alleged corruption case being handled by the KPK, Isac hopes that Enembe as a leader must be ready to face it. Instead of avoiding it by constructing far-fetched opinions, such as asking the KPK to examine it in the open field.
To his fellow Papuan youths, Isac invites them to take lessons from the current situation on Earth of Cendrawasih. Including the corruption case that Enembe is currently facing. He emphasized that corruption must be eradicated from Papua. Papua in the future must have leaders who are completely free from corruption.
