The Government of Manokwari Regency, West Papua Province, assisted 333 micro, small and medium enterprises by providing money in the form of savings worth IDR 10 million each.
Head of the Manokwari Industry, Trade and Cooperatives and UKM Office, Yan Ayomi, in Manokwari, Saturday, stated that the assistance was a stimulus so that the efforts of UMKM players, especially Papuan Indigenous People (OAP) could run in a sustainable manner.
"This stimulus comes from the Special Autonomy Fund (Otsus). We provide this stimulus with the hope that our community's efforts can continue so that the wheels of their economy continue to live, especially since this Special Autonomy Fund is intended for OAP," said Yan.
He added that the granting of the Special Autonomy Fund was an effort to build the spirit of SMEs from OAP circles, especially in the face of world uncertainty in terms of food, climate and economic crises.
The provision of stimulus assistance for MSME actors is also evidence that the Manokwari Regency Government continues to allocate the Special Autonomy Fund correctly, namely returning it to the OAP community so that it is managed properly.
Yan ensured that he had provided training for MSME actors from the OAP so that they could manage their budgets well. He believes MSMEs in Manokwari can grow well and increase regional productivity which has an impact on economic growth at the regional and national scale.
The Regent of Manokwari, Hermus Indou, said that his party was committed to paying attention to MSME actors in Manokwari, especially OAP. The assistance provided by the Regency Government was requested to be developed to be able to compete with MSME actors from communities outside OAP.
"Don't let the assistance provided cannot be developed. We Papuans must be able to change and must be able to bring in the maximum economic benefit,” explained Hermus.
