The Papuan Indigenous Youth National Leadership Council or DPN PAP will meet with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to ask the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe, to be temporarily disabled due to his recent illness.
Chairman of the Papuan Indigenous Youth, Christian Arebo, said that he and the Papuan Indigenous Youth Team were in Jakarta. In fact, they have submitted a letter to the Ministry of State Secretariat (Kemensetneg), and are now waiting for the process to be scheduled to meet President Jokowi.
According to Christian Arebo, it is important to temporarily disable the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe so that he can focus more on restoring his health condition, and being able to face legal proceedings by the Corruption Eradication Commission or KPK.
Because, said Christian Arebo, Lukas Enembe is now a suspect in the alleged recipient of a gratuity worth Rp. 1 billion. However, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has not been able to question him, on the grounds that his health condition does not allow it.
“This is an effort that I and the Papuan Indigenous Youth team are in Jakarta to convey to the President, that the Governor of Papua is temporarily disabled due to illness. We have also submitted a letter to the Secretary of State, and it is being processed so we are still waiting to meet the president," said Christian Arebo through his telephone call to this media, Tuesday, October 11, 2022.
Chairman of the Papuan Indigenous Youth, Christian Arebo said, if the Governor of Papua is temporarily disabled, his position will be replaced by the acting or implementing (plt) governor duties.
That way, continued Christian Arebo, the wheels of government in Papua Province can run optimally. Because, how is it possible that the Governor of Papua, who is currently sickly, can carry out his duties properly.
"So this way, so that the government in Papua Province can run normally, Mr. Governor, whose condition is currently said to be sickly, and has stumbled upon a legal case of alleged corruption, I suggest that he should be temporarily disabled while taking treatment and undergoing the legal process," he said.
It is said, if later the health condition of the Governor of Papua has improved and there is certainty regarding the legal process, then he (Governor Lukas Enembe) can resume his term of office if it has not ended.
As is known, the term of office of the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe will end in September 2023.
He also argues, if there is no acting governor, and the governor is in a sickly condition, how can the government in Papua run optimally.
Moreover, he added, this concerns the budget, where everything must be controlled by the governor, so it is necessary to have an acting or acting governor.
"So, it is very important that the Papuan governor must be temporarily disabled for what reason, because if he is not temporarily disabled, then his lawyers will be more and more wild in making opinions. Creating issues that will backfire in the community," said Christian Arebo.
