Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Alexander Marwata stated that Papua Governor Lukas Enembe (LE) would be examined for his health by the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) Team and questioned by the KPK in Papua.
"Brother LE will be examined for health by IDI and questioned by the KPK. The KPK together with IDI will make a visit to Papua to ensure law enforcement against LE goes well," said Alex during a press conference at the KPK's Red and White Building, Jakarta, Monday.
This was agreed upon from the results of a coordination meeting (Rakor) related to the handling of the Luke Enembe case by the KPK with the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, the Minister of Health, the TNI, the National Police, the Papuan Police, the Cenderawasih Military Commander, and the IDI Doctor Team at the KPK Red and White Building, Jakarta, Monday.
"The purpose of the arrival of the KPK and IDI teams is to conduct a health check on LE and examine LE as a suspect," said Alex.
In the coordination meeting, continued Alex, it was agreed that the KPK's arrival to Papua was not to forcefully pick up Lukas Enembe.
"Ask the regional apparatus to convey to the Papuan people that the KPK came to Papua for the purpose of examining Lukas Enembe's health and examining him as a suspect, not to carry out a forced pick-up," he said.
He said the results of the medical examination will determine the next follow-up.
He emphasized the presence of the KPK in Papua in accordance with the mandate of Article 113 of the Criminal Procedure Code Law Number 8 of 1981 dated December 31, 1981 that if a suspect or witness who is summoned gives a proper and reasonable reason that he cannot come to the investigator conducting the examination, the investigator will come to his residence.
Alex said the visit of the KPK and IDI to Papua would be scheduled soon with the participation of the KPK leadership to carry out the main tasks and functions of the KPK by taking into account the provisions of the Act (UU).
"KPK facilitates the health examination of LE's brother as a form of respect for human rights as well as a form of accountability in law enforcement of corruption by the KPK," said Alex.
In addition, he said, his institution ensures that law enforcement against Lukas Enembe continues in accordance with the provisions and laws and regulations by upholding the principles of carrying out the main tasks of the KPK.
The KPK has named Lukas Enembe as a suspect in the alleged bribery case related to work or projects sourced from the Papua Province APBD.
The KPK has not officially announced the status of suspect Lukas Enembe. Regarding the publication of case construction and parties who have been designated as suspects, this will be carried out when forced efforts have been made to either arrest or detain the suspect.
