Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri ensured that his party immediately went to Papua to examine Papua Governor Lukas Enembe as a suspect in the alleged bribery case related to work or projects sourced from the Papua Province APBD.
However, Firli has not confirmed the departure schedule for the KPK team to Papua.
"I can't say for sure when, but we will definitely go there," Firli told the media after attending the inauguration of Johanis Tanak as Deputy Chair of the 2019-2023 KPK at the State Palace, Jakarta, Friday.
According to Firli, the KPK investigators and teams from the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) have already left for Papua to conduct a health check on Lukas Enembe. Health problems have always been the reason for the delay in the KPK's examination of Lukas Enembe, since he was banned from traveling abroad as of September 7, 2022.
On several occasions, the coordinator of the team of lawyers for Lukas Enembe, Stevanus Roy Rening, stated that his client was in a sick condition so that he repeatedly failed to meet the summons for examination at the KPK.
Firli emphasized that the KPK always prioritizes two approaches in handling the Luke Enembe case. The first is for the settlement of law enforcement.
"Secondly, we uphold the principles, the main tasks of the KPK, including upholding human rights (human rights). Based on the doctor's statement that we got, the person concerned is sick. So, we must prioritize restoring the health of the person concerned," explained Firli.
In addition, Firli also expressed his gratitude to the people of Papua who have welcomed the arrival of the KPK team and a team of doctors in the context of law enforcement. He reiterated that the arrival of the team was also an effort to guarantee Lukas Enembe's human rights and the restoration of his health.
Previously, Deputy Chairman of the KPK Alexander Marwata, Monday (24/10), said that Lukas Enembe would undergo a medical examination by the IDI team and be questioned by the KPK team in Papua.
This is an agreement as a result of a coordination meeting between the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Kemenkopolhukam), Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri), Ministry of Health, TNI, Polri, Papua Police, Cenderawasih Military Command, and IDI at the KPK Red and White Building.
Alex confirmed that the KPK's arrival in Papua was not to forcefully pick up Lukas Enembe.
The KPK has named Lukas Enembe as a suspect in the alleged bribery case related to work or projects sourced from the Papua Province APBD. The KPK has not officially announced the status of suspect Lukas Enembe.
Publication of the construction of the case and the party who has been designated as a suspect will be carried out when forced efforts have been made, both arrest and detention, against the suspect.
