The Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kemkominfo) assists Papuan inland residents in Jayawijaya Regency to be able to adapt to the digital era and be able to produce positive content through the online world.
The Information and Communications Coordinator for Defense and Security of the Ministry of Communication and Information, Dikdik Sadaka in Wamena, Thursday, said such training was not only carried out in Jayawijaya but also in a number of cities/districts in Papua.
"Currently we are equipping residents in Jayawijaya with training in the field of social media, especially in producing information content, considering that now the digital era and Papua can adapt to the current era," he said.
The training that took place in Jayawijaya was focused on the younger generation because their enthusiasm for using social media was very high.
"We hope that later they can produce positive content that can advance the Wamena people, can improve their welfare and improve their social life in the future," he said.
He acknowledged that internet service support in Jayawijaya needs to be improved and this will become input for the relevant work units at the Ministry of Communication and Information.
"With the conditions that we have seen firsthand, maybe later we will provide input to the work unit that handles this so that, especially in Wamena, the network can be further improved," he said.
The regencies/cities in Papua that have been visited by the Ministry of Communication and Information are the cities and regencies of Jayapura, Keerom, Biak Numfor, Merauke and Jayawijaya.
