Inspirational Young Papua (PMI) handed over agricultural equipment aid from PT Pertamina Gas Negara (PGN) to a group of millennial corn farmers in Sorong Regency, West Papua.
PMI Sorong Regency assistant, Hambara in Sorong, Sunday, said the agricultural equipment was distributed to two Millennial Farmer Business Entities managed by millennial farmers assisted by PMI Sorong Regency.
"So use in groups, and it will make it easier for regular monitoring and maintenance. Two business entities consist of 10 farmer groups," he said.
Millennial farmer activities driven by PMI in Sorong district have been ongoing since 2021 through training and development of hybrid corn commodities in Sorong district.
"Equipments were handed over, namely cultivators, chainsaws, electric spray tanks, large-sized shelling machines, planting tools, lawn medicine, and corn seeds," explained Hambara.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Sorong Regency Agriculture Service, Frengki Fakdawer, expressed his gratitude to Pertamina Gas Negara and PT. PGN, which has assisted local governments in encouraging the development of corn farmers in their regions.
According to him, modern equipment can encourage farmer groups to further increase their production yields which leads to their welfare.
