West Papua Province won the title of Universal Health Coverage

BPJS Kesehatan designated West Papua Province as the winner of the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) title after 99.07 percent of the total population was enrolled in the National Health Insurance (JKN).

"West Papua is the fourth province to win UHC from all provinces in Indonesia after Aceh, DKI Jakarta and Bengkulu," said BPJS Kesehatan Director of Health Service Guarantee Lily Kresnowati in a written statement received in Jakarta, Tuesday.

He appreciated the consistency the West Papua Provincial Government has shown since 2018 in supporting and making government programs successful.

The participation of the people of West Papua in the JKN program reached 1,150,186 people or the equivalent of 99.07 percent of the total local population which reached 1,161,028 people.

This achievement even exceeds the target of the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN), which targets a minimum of 98 percent of the population to be protected by JKN by 2024.

As a form of appreciation for this commitment, Lily accompanied by the Head of BPJS Kesehatan Manokwari Branch Deny Jermy Eka Putra Mase handed over the UHC Award Certificate to Acting Governor of West Papua Paulus Waterpauw, Monday (5/12).

In addition, a Memorandum of Understanding and the UHC Work Plan for the JKN Program were signed between the BPJS Health Deputy for the Papua and West Papua Regions and the Provincial Government of West Papua.

"This UHC achievement is certainly not the end of everything, more than that we really need the support of the West Papua Provincial Government to maintain and increase the number of JKN participants so that the population is increasingly protected by health insurance," he said.

He also asked for the participation of the local government in improving health service facilities so that people seeking treatment can be served well so that they do not need to be referred outside West Papua.

Acting Governor of West Papua Paulus Waterpauw said the achievement of UHC was achieved thanks to the cooperation of all parties in supporting the national health insurance program.

The West Papua Provincial Government continues to increase outreach to people who are not yet guaranteed health services, especially in areas far from urban areas because they are considered to have no awareness of the importance of health insurance protection.

Through the UHC collaboration between the Provincial Government of West Papua and BPJS Health, all West Papuans can benefit from health services.

"If you are sick, it is enough to show your KTP, you can immediately go to the puskesmas for treatment or if you are in an emergency, you can access the emergency room at the hospital, and this is guaranteed by BPJS Kesehatan according to the applicable procedures," he said.

To increase socialization efforts related to the JKN Program, BPJS Health has also provided various information channels and complaint handling.

The public can access the BPJS Kesehatan Care Center 165, the official social media for BPJS Kesehatan, as well as access BPJS SATU officers at the hospital.

In addition, BPJS Kesehatan also continues to expand membership registration and administration channels, both face-to-face and non-face-to-face, such as Administrative Services via WhatsApp (PANDAWA) 08118165165.

Participants can also access the JKN Mobile Application with various features that make it easier for participants to access services independently.

Currently, participants can also use their Electronic KTP/NIK to access services at First Level Health Facilities (FKTP) and in hospitals.
