The Regent of Jayawijaya, Papua Mountains Province, Jhon Richard Banua, SE., M.Si asked the people of Jayawijaya to be grateful for the expansion of the New Autonomous Region (DOB) of Mountain Papua Province. Papua Mountains Province with the capital city Jayawijaya is the result of the division of Papua Province which was inaugurated after the House of Representatives (DPR) passed three bills (RUU) for the formation of three new autonomous regions on Thursday, June 30, 2022.
The province covers the administrative areas of Jayawijaya, Bintang Mountains, Yahukimo, Tolikara, Central Mamberamo (Mamteng), Yalimo, Lanny Jaya, and Nduga with an area of 108,476 square kilometers. "Together with the celebration of this historic moment, we should be grateful because some time ago the people of Papua received a special gift from the central government with the expansion of three new provinces in Papua, one of which is Papua Mountains Province," he said in his speech on the 77th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia. Indonesia on Wednesday, August 17, 2022.
Banua said the central government's hope for the expansion was to lay a stronger foothold in order to build the welfare of the people affected by the expansion. Specifically for the Papuan people through the division of the province, including the addition of seats in the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Papuan People's Assembly (MRP) which provides the opportunity for the Papuan people to continue to oversee development.
In addition, according to him, there is a normal age limit for the appointment of State Civil Apparatus (ASN) with undergraduate education is 35 years, but now specifically for Papua, the age limit is 48 to 50 years. This exception can reduce the number of unemployed as a result of the morotarium of Candidates for Civil Servants (CPNS) several years ago, whose age has passed the limit set by the provisions of the legislation.
"Papuans have many opportunities in the appointment of the next ASN, because the impact of this expansion will also require a lot of employees both in the province and districts in the Lapago area," said Banua.
Furthermore, he also asked the residents of Jayawijaya to maintain a conducive security and order, because there are several groups of people who want to disturb the comfort by spreading disturbing issues.
"Let's open our hearts and be wise in responding to the central government's decision with all the issues that develop. According to him, a success does not come instantly, but will go through a very long process, and it depends on the perseverance and hard work of all parties, "said Banua.
