Merauke DMA Airbase Intensively Implements Mobile Vaccines

JA Dimara Airbase Health Officers intensively carry out mobile vaccines to provide vaccinations to the community in Merauke City, Papua.

The results of the mobile vaccine achievements carried out by the JA Dimara Airbase since February 24, 2022 have reached 850 who were vaccinated. The greatest achievement was booster vaccines up to 70 percent.

"We are helping local governments to accelerate the implementation of vaccinations for the community," said Head of JA Manara Air Base, Captain of Dwi Brahmady, Thursday (17/3/2022) at SMA 2 Merauke.

For the booster vaccine, his party uses the Moderna type, from the previous doses 1 and 2 using the Sinovac type. It is said that the vaccinators of the JA Dimara Air Base are always on standby to assist in the implementation of vaccines, but the stock availability is always constrained.

"Sometimes we are constrained by the stock of vaccines we use. Sometimes the stock runs out while there is still a lot of demand, so we finally borrow it from other colleagues," he explained.

He hopes that when the vaccine is easy to obtain, it is certain that the vaccination will run more smoothly and more people will be vaccinated.

Head of the Merauke Health Office, dr. Nevile Muskita said that the demand for vaccines for Merauke was adjusted to the amount of data needed on how many would be vaccinated.

"We don't want when we ask for a lot, then it's not used because it expires. This is what we have to calculate properly. If they can set a daily target for how many vaccines they will get, please inform us so that we ask the provinces according to their needs," explained dr. Neville.

On the other hand, the availability of vaccines in the provinces is also limited with a short validity period. The anticipation is to ensure the clarity of the target because there are many requests from other Papuan regions.

"Suppose we ask for the vaccine, for example 1000 doses, while the export is at the end of March, can this amount be used before the end of March," said Nevile in his office.

Based on the latest data, the number of people vaccinated in Merauke is 93 percent for dose 1, dose 2 reaches 70 percent and only 5 percent for booster.
