Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi continues to encourage local governments to optimize existing commodities in their regions, in order to maximize the return cargo of sea toll vessels.
On Friday (11/3), the Minister of Transportation attended the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity from PT. Pelni (Persero), which invites young people (millennial farmers) from Merauke, Papua for a comparative study/learn about agricultural production in Sragen Regency, Central Java.
Through this program, it is hoped that young people in Merauke, Papua can apply rice cultivation in Papua and improve the quality of rice in Merauke.
Furthermore, it is possible to distribute Merauke rice throughout the Papua region, including to the island of Java by using sea toll ships.
"I appreciate PT Pelni who has an extraordinary idea to provide training for millennial farmers in Merauke Regency. This is a synergy effort for all of us, apart from providing direct training to increase agricultural production, this program is also to support the Sea Highway program," said Minister of Transportation Budi in Sragen Regency, Friday (11/3).
Sragen Regency is one of the areas that has a fairly good rice cultivation system in Central Java.
Meanwhile, President Director of PT Pelni (Persero) Tri Andayani said that his party fully supports the comparative study activities carried out by farmers from Merauke Regency to Sragen Regency.
His party hopes that this comparative study of millennial farmers from Merauke Regency to Sragen Regency will be of great benefit to farmers to exchange information and gain knowledge that can be utilized in their home areas.
"We hope that through this comparative study TJSL program, we can support sustainable agriculture in the Merauke Regency area so that it can improve the economy of the people in Merauke Regency," he said.
He revealed that his party is committed to contributing to sustainable development activities in accordance with the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), one of which is through this comparative study activity, as SDG number two is to support sustainable agriculture.
