DPR Supports Measured Action against Papuan KKB

Member of Commission III of the DPR from the United Development Party (PPP) faction, Arsul Sani, supported the TNI-Polri to take measured action against the Papuan armed criminal group (KKB). Arsul conveyed his support as long as the action was carried out within the framework of the standard operating procedure (SOP).

"In this case, all of our support as citizens of the nation must be given to the Indonesian National Police-TNI when taking measured action against the armed separatist group," Arsul said when contacted, Tuesday (22/2/2022).

Arsul views that the group's repeated shootings and crimes show that they are closing the door to dialogue. He also assessed that the repetition of these actions showed that they had rejected the humanitarian approach that had been carried out by the TNI-Polri in Papua.

On that basis, he emphasized that the crackdown on armed separatist groups in Papua still needs to be continued. However, Arsul emphasized that a humanitarian approach is still important, especially for ordinary people living in Papua. "As long as everything is done within the framework of the SOP for prosecution, then we support Polri-TNI operations in Papua," said Arsul.

It is known that the Papuan KKB carried out shootings and burning around residential areas in Omukian District and Ilaga District, Puncak Regency, Papua, Sunday (20/2/2022). There was a gun battle between the joint TNI-Polri personnel and the group from 09.30 WIT to 12.20 WIT.

Previously, on Saturday (19/2/2022), it was known that KKB opened fire on members of the Indonesian Air Force Special Forces/Paskhas who were securing activities at Aminggiru Airport, Ilaga. The action left a Kopasgat TNI AU soldier injured and had to undergo treatment.
