The opening ceremony of the XVI Papua National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) will be held at the Mandala Stadium, Jayapura City, on November 5, 2021.
The Daily Chair of the Papua National Peparnas Large Committee (PB), Doren Wakerkwa, confirmed that he had held a series of meetings with related parties, especially the TNI/Polri, to prepare for the opening activities which were planned to be attended by President Joko Widodo.
"The consolidation meeting for the opening ceremony has been carried out because this activity will be attended by heads of state," said Doren Wakerkwa as reported by the official website of the Papua Provincial Government, Friday.
"Of course, starting from the security system, traffic management and how to solve problems in sports," he added.
Based on the official schedule from the committee, athletes from various provinces in the country will arrive at Bumi Cenderawasih on November 2, 2021.
They will first undergo classification and legitimacy before starting to compete in the arena matches on November 6-13.
Peparnas Papua will compete in 12 sports with 602 match numbers. No less than 1,985 athletes from 34 provinces competed in the sporting event for the largest disabled athlete in the country.
