Damaged by OTK, Sahayu Yalimo Bridge Repaired by Kodim 1702/Jayawijaya

TNI from Kodim 1702/Jayawijaya together with youths from Abenaho District managed to repair the Sahayu KM 97 bridge which was damaged by OTK some time ago in Abenaho District, Yalimo Regency, Monday (01/11/2021).

The Sahayu Bridge is the only access that connects the Jayawijaya and Yalimo areas, previously it was damaged by OTK (Unknown Persons).

The damage is suspected to be related to the pilkada conflict which is still ongoing where Yalimo district residents want the PSU not to be carried out, but only to inaugurate the elected Regent and Deputy Regent through the General Election and PSU which were held last year.

Hearing of the destruction, Dandim 1702/Jayawijaya Lt. Col. Inf. Arif Budi Situmeang ordered his staff to directly inspect the location. After confirming the damage, his party immediately led as many as 27 personnel of Kodim 1702/Jayawijaya to carry out repairs.

"We are trying to fix it as soon as possible, because this bridge is the only link between Jayawijaya and Yalimo areas. We hope that with the completion of this bridge repair, the distribution of nine basic commodities (sembako) and fuel from Jayawijaya Regency will not stop so that once the wheels of the economy continue to run in Yalimo Regency, "said Dandim.

Dandim explained, currently the bridge can be passed by four-wheeled and six-wheeled vehicles and tomorrow there will be improvements to bridge repairs such as the installation of rails and tire bases that have not been installed.

Meanwhile, the Head of Youth for Abenaho District, Yurius Wandik, expressed his gratitude for the alertness of the TNI from Kodim 1702/Jayawijaya who immediately took quick action to repair this bridge.

"We also hope that this bridge will not be damaged again, because this bridge is a land transportation route used to meet the needs of the people in Yalimo Regency," he said.
