Actions carried out by terrorist separatist groups (KST) in Papua such as shooting teachers, burning teachers' houses, schools and houses of tribal chiefs are a form of crime against Human Rights (HAM). These actions should be stopped and given the appropriate punishment.
If all this time the KKB has stated that it is fighting to free Papua from the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, this action has in fact only frightened the public, in fact civilians have become victims of violence and shootings.
Previously, the Papuan Police Chief, Inspector General Paulus Waterpauw, said the KKB was a group of people who often grouped together and carried out security disturbances.
Paulus emphasized that he always categorizes KKB as a free man. His life is just violence, frightening everyone, threatening everyone with guns.
In mid-2020, at least two medical officers from the Covid-19 task force were shot by KKB in Intan Jaya Regency, Papua. One victim died in the incident.
The medical personnel are part of the Covid-19 task force team and carry out a noble mandate.
Previously, the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) had acted by burning a commercial aircraft belonging to PT MAF in Intan Jaya, Papua.
The brutal action began with the shooting of several civilian aircraft, including a few days ago the shooting of a PT Freeport Indonesia helicopter and currently the MAF aircraft were burned.
Of course, the atrocities committed by KST, which used to be called KKB, can no longer be tolerated. The state must also act or act immediately. So that the death toll among the Papuan people will no longer fall, the state must act decisively and measuredly.
When the state acts decisively and KKB members surrender, they must be faced with the legal process to account for the armed violence they have committed so far. On the other hand, if the KKB's decisive action was responded to by a deadly armed attack, it would not be wrong if TNI-Polri soldiers also launched a counterattack in the name of defending the country and protecting all the blood spilled.
The existence of KST in Papua with all its brutal acts so far must have caused endless fear for local residents. It is not wrong if Papuans are inflamed and express their jealousy towards their fellow countrymen and countrymen in other regions who are allowed to enjoy the dynamics of normal life without fear of sudden attacks from KKB.
With atrocities that clearly violate human rights, of course the state must be present with a clear goal, namely to protect Papuans so that they can live a normal life, without being overshadowed by terror and fear. When Papua returns to peace and conduciveness, the government can calmly continue development in the eastern tip of the Republic of Indonesia.
Fighting and liberating Papua from various terrors and crimes against humanity by KST is a concrete manifestation for the state to protect the basic rights of the Papuan people.
It should be remembered that the Rome Statute and RI Law no. 26 of 2000 on the Court of Human Rights, including killings as crimes against humanity and gross human rights violations.
It was noted that the KKB had also launched hot lead to the civilians of Sinak, Puncak Regency, Papua. The Head of Information for the Joint Regional Defense Command (Kogabwilhan) III Colonel CZI IGN Suriastawa admitted that there was a shooting incident by the KKB with the victims of 2 civilians, in which one of them died.
The two victims, namely Amanus Murib, were in critical condition, while Atanius Murib died.
The criminal act was allegedly motivated by intimidation from the KKB to the community, because the action so far has not received support from local residents and various attempts to distort the facts by accusing the security forces as the perpetrator.
Perverting facts and playing victims through the mass media has always been a trick of pro-KKB groups and their supporters at home and abroad to corner the Indonesian government.
KST's atrocities have been widely circulated in various media, they also have weapons that can be used to threaten and fight against the security forces who are on duty.
Therefore, the state must be present to maintain security in Papua, lest civilians in Papua become victims of the atrocities of separatist groups who have a track record of being troublemakers in Papua.
