Journalists and public service workers in Jayapura City receive the COVID-19 vaccine

Journalists and public service officers in Jayapura City receive the COVID-19 vaccine at the Papua Provincial Health Office, Jayapura City, Friday (12/3/2021). The vaccination was followed by 101 vaccine recipients.

Papua Provincial Health Office's Head of Disease Prevention and Control, Aaron Rumainum said Friday's vaccination targeted 120 vaccine recipients who worked as journalists or public service officials. However, throughout that Friday, the vaccination was only followed by 101 vaccine recipients.

“Those who receive the vaccine today are public servants. For journalists, we are targeting to reach 50 people, ”said Rumainum in Jayapura City, Friday.

He emphasized that if the COVID-19 vaccination in Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency and several areas in Papua runs smoothly, then the implementation of the XX Papua National Sports Week (PON) will be safe. This means that people from outside Papua need not be afraid to visit Papua.

"So, let's support us in increasing vaccination coverage, so that activities can return to normal as before. Moreover, we are also anticipating a new virus which is 10 times more contagious and dangerous, "said Rumainum.

According to him, currently the demand for COVID-19 vaccination in Papua is actually increasing, because many agencies / institutions have requested vaccinations for their workers. The Papua Health Office plans to add one vaccination team to answer this request.

"The demand is so much that we have not been able to fulfill it. From the request of 200 people, sometimes we are only able to serve 70-80 people, ”said Rumainum.

RRI Jayapura journalist, Resky Kurniawan, admitted that he did not feel anything strange after being injected with the COVID-19 vaccine. "It feels normal, it's not like what many people say that after being vaccinated you will have a fever, dizziness, or nausea," he said.

The same thing was conveyed by another vaccine recipient, Andi Iriani. He admitted that he was afraid to be vaccinated against COVID-19. However, after receiving the vaccine, he felt that he did not experience any health problems.

"The job of journalists always meets a lot of people, that's why I think it is better to fortify myself by getting vaccinated. But the health protocol is still being applied every day, "said Andi.
