Mataram - Athlete Tarung Drajat, Kurniawan is determined to make the NTB Province proud at the XX PON event in Jayapura, Papua, in 2021.
This TNI-AD member with the rank of Second Sergeant (Serda) said that at this time he could focus more on undergoing preparatory training for PON XX in 2021, because he had changed assignments or returned to the NTB region, starting in early December 2020.
"I've moved my assignment to NTB, so I can focus more on training to make the NTB Province proud and also Korem 162 / WB at the XX PON event in 2021," said Kurniawan on the sidelines of his training in Mataram recently.
In particular, Kurniawan expressed his deepest appreciation and gratitude to the members of the DPR RI from the Electoral District of NTB-2 / P. Lombok, namely H. Bambang Kristiono (HBK) who has played a very important role in helping the process of transferring his duties from Bandung, West Java to NTB.
"Please give permission to Mr. HBK, thank you for all your attention, assistance and kindness. May the goodness of the Commander be rewarded by Allah SWT and become a field of charity for the Commander and his family, "said Kurniawan with emotion.
Kurniawan is an athlete from Sumbawa, NTB who once made NTB proud by winning a gold medal at PON XIX in 2016.
In the same year, Kurniawan then took the selection test for members of the TNI-AD and passed and was placed in the Bandung area, West Java.
Head of the NTB Pengda Perkemi Daily who is also the Chairperson of the NTB Pelatda Forum, Agus Suharian explained, the process of moving Kurniawan to NTB was thanks to the help and attention of HBK.
Agus said that initially he received a complaint from the Tarung Drajat NTB coach team about Kurniawan who was still on duty in Bandung, West Java.
"Our Tarung Drajat coach team complained that their flagship athletes are or are on duty in Bandung. This makes it very difficult to implement the training program that has been prepared, "said Agus.
Hearing the complaint, Agus then tried to convey this problem to HBK, who is now the Deputy Chairperson of Commission I DPR RI.
"At that time, Mr. HBK immediately responded, and he attempted to communicate with the relevant agencies so that Kurniawan could change his duties to Korem 162 / WB. And this December, Kurniawan has successfully moved to Korem 162 / WB in NTB, "he said.
Agus also expressed his gratitude and appreciation to HBK for supporting sports activities and sports athletes from West Nusa Tenggara. According to him, HBK's concern for the world of sports in NTB is indeed extraordinary, so that his party plans to gather NTB athletic trainers to be able to meet and stay in touch with HBK.
"We plan to gather our trainers in NTB to meet HBK. The hope is that he can provide motivations to these athlete coaches for the progress and achievement of sports in NTB. Alhamdulillah, he has responded well and he promised to meet the athlete coaches in NTB as soon as possible, "he said.
On a separate occasion, HBK also expressed his hope that the achievements of NTB athletes in the upcoming XX PON could be even better, because it would be a matter of pride and joy for all NTB people.
"I hope that Kurniawan's presence in the midst of NTB athletes will be an even stronger impetus and enthusiasm considering that Kurniawan was one of the gold medal winners at the previous PON, who has made NTB's name at the national level," said HBK optimistically.
