The Chairperson of the General Election Commission (KPU) of West Papua Province, Paskalis Semunya, said that the determination of candidates and serial numbers in the 2020 Pilkada simultaneously in West Papua on September 23 and 24 had gone according to stages.
Of the 9 (nine) regions that carried out the Pilkada simultaneously, only the South Manokwasi KPUD (Mansel) reported the postponement of the stage of determining candidates and serial numbers.
"The report we received, that the KPUD Mansel has held a plenary postponement of the stages [determination of candidates and serial numbers], because the single contest in the Mansel Pilkada is still completing the quarantine period," said Semunya.
It was stated entirely, that in PKPU No.10 of 2020, the regulation provided an opportunity for the relevant contestants (paslon), so the local KPUD was obliged to postpone health examinations.
There are 8 (eight) KPUDs that have determined candidates and serial numbers, namely KPUD Manokwari two candidates, Bintuni two candidates, Wondama four candidates, South Korea four candidates, Fakfak two candidates, Kaimana two candidates, Pegaf one candidate pair, and Raja Ampat one candidate pair. .
In a separate place, the West Papua Police Chief, Inspector General Pol Tornagogo Sihombing, emphasized to the ranks of the Police in the West Papua Regional Police jurisdiction in particular, the 9 regional Pilkada implementing simultaneous elections, to ensure the implementation of the Chief of Police's announcement regarding the discipline of health protocols at all stages of the 2020 regional elections.
