The Central Bureau of Statistics continues to apply the health protocol in the 2020 population census. Therefore, the public does not need to worry and is expected to remain open in providing data to census officers.
"Health protocol must be implemented (by census officers). They wear masks and (often) wash their hands and have to keep their distance when communicating with the people who are being recorded, ”said Head of the Jayapura Regency Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) Jeffry de Fretes.
He said census officers were recruited from local residents. They have also undergone a rapid antibody test (rapid test) with nonreactive results.
Jeffry added that the population census was carried out to update population data according to the latest conditions so that it was more accurate and valid. "Later, there will be no more population data from the (version) of the population and civil registration service or (version) of BPS. All use the same data source, ”said Jeffry.
The 2020 Population Census is held for a month from today. In Jayapura Regency, the launch of the event was led by Regent Mathius Awoitauw, yesterday.
Regent Awoitauw said the 2020 Population Census was the first step towards realizing Jayapura One Data District. "Data is important in planning and implementing development. We can't just work without the support of (valid) data. "
According to him, the results of the census will be synergized with all work programs from all levels of government in Jayapura Regency. He hopes residents provide valid data to census officers.
