The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Jayapura Regency deployed 356 population census officers to carry out the population census, from 1 - 30 September 2020.
Head of BPS Jayapura Regency, Jeffry De Fretes, said that the majority of officers will be deployed in the Sentani City area, with 213 officers and the rest will be in districts to the farthest such as Airu District.
According to De Fretes, data received from the Department of Population and Civil Registry (Disdukcapil) shows that the population in Jayapura Regency is around 175 thousand more. From this data, BPS will verify via RT / RW.
De Fretes continued, for this year's population census, the government has provided a budget of approximately IDR 4.5 of the 7 billion cut due to the COVID-19 situation.
Even so, we are optimistic that the population census in Papua, especially in Jayapura Regency, will run successfully and smoothly
