| Papuan Students in Ambon Reject Racism and Love NKRI |
Students from the Papua Province who were educated in Ambon City, Maluku Province, firmly refused various forms of anarchist actions leading to racism. Not only that, they also rejected the actions that often carry the name of Papua in general in the discourse of the Republic of Indonesia.
As a young generation of Papuans who are pursuing knowledge, it is fitting to provide good education to the community, so as not to think about anarchist or racist acts, let alone wanting to separate themselves from the Unitary Republic of Indonesia. Conscious or not, the Unitary Republic of Indonesia is a fixed price for Papua today, in the future and forever.
The Papua Student Association Board, Alex Banggoibo, when met in Ambon City, explained that their aim was to gain knowledge because they did not want to be locked up in patriarchal culture, which often imprisoned them on racists.
As children of the nation who love the Republic of Indonesia, they are embedded in their belief that Papua is Indonesia. On the contrary, Indonesia is Papua. So that, if there is a certain group that wants independence or to leave the Republic of Indonesia, none other, he said, they are not Papuans. Because, Papuans love the Homeland very much.
Evidently, many social activities carried out by the people of Papua in order to maintain the integrity together with the Unitary Republic of Indonesia. Those who often create chaos, certainly, said Alex, do not want Papuans to be more advanced and developed.
While the racist issue is now an international issue, Alex hopes that Papuans will not be lured into issues that are developing in foreign countries. The most important thing right now is how to advance the Papua region and its people, so that it is equal to other regions in Indonesia. Therefore, the progress of the region depends entirely on the current generation of Papuans.
