West Papua Regional Police Task Force Monitor the Market |
The West Papua Regional Police Food Task Force continues to monitor the market situation in order to prevent speculators' actions that could harm the community in the midst of the war against the corona virus.
West Papua Regional Police Chief Brigadier General Pol. Turnagogo Sihombing in Manokwari, Friday, said that the task force was currently focusing on monitoring sugar. From the results of the investigation, this police have not found any indication of hoarding.
"And the information that I got from the center, is indeed a problem not in the market, but from producers. There is a delay in the harvest so that it affects the production results," said the Chief of Police.
He emphasized that the food task force will continue to move to explore all information in the community. The Regional Police will work optimally to prevent hoarding.
In addition to sugar, the Kapolda continued, the Task Force also monitored other commodities, especially regarding community basic needs. The Regional Police continues to coordinate with the regional inflation control team (TPID), both at the provincial and district / city levels.
Head of the West Papua Regional Secretariat for Economic Affairs, Jefry Auparay, said that the supply of sugar from Java had entered Manokwari Port some time ago.
"For Teluk Wondama, it will arrive at Wasior Port on April 5, 2020. That's out of stock allocated in Manokwari," said Jefry.
Meanwhile, for Manokwari, he continued, there are currently 75 tons of stock. This supply is expected to meet the needs of sugar in this area for the next few months.
In addition to private distributors, continued Jefry, the Manokwari Subdivre Logistics Agency (Bulog) has also brought sugar and has now arrived. He urged people not to worry about the availability of sugar in the area.
