Coordinating Minister for Politics and Security and MPR Hold Closed Meeting to Discuss All Problems in Papua Indonesia |
To dismiss the notion that so far the central government is not serious in solving the problems of Papua and West Papua, the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) held a working meeting with the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Human Rights (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD in the GBHN room, Parliament Complex, Senayan , Jakarta, Monday (2/24/2020).
MPR Chair Bambang Soesatyo said that a joint working meeting with the Coordinating Minister for Politics and Security would discuss the resolution of conflicts in Papua. As socio-economic in Papua and West Papua, as well as other issues that are prolonged, because Papua is indeed an object to be used as discrimination and injustice for groups who are not responsible.
"Today we invite the parties related to the Papua settlement, the first thing we want to get a report related to political and social security," said Bambang.
Bambang also said, not only the MPR, the work meeting would also be attended by the DPR Leadership and DPD. Because later the Chairperson of the MPR, DPR, and DPD, will visit Papua in early March. Furthermore, Bambang said, the work meeting would be held in private.
"We, the leaders of the MPR, the DPR and the DPD, will visit Papua from March 2 to 5 to ascertain security issues, therefore (we) heard reports about security," he said.
"Closed first, there will be a press conference," continued Bambang.
