A female figure from Keerom Regency, Papua, Ida Sokoy, fully supports the efforts of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), which is currently intensively investigating various abuses of authority committed by the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe.
It was previously known that Lukas Enembe had been named a suspect in the alleged bribery and gratuity case. Now the Corruption Eradication Commission is investigating its involvement in the misuse of the leadership's operational funds and the management of the XX Papua National Sports Week (PON).
Ida Sokoy is of the opinion that the Governor of Papua certainly does not act alone. But it should be suspected that he was assisted by his cronies who sat in strategic positions, both in the executive and legislative branches. They contributed to the mistake made by Lukas Enembe.
“One word, capture! Because it's his cronies who work, not Mr. Lukas. So that it can provide a deterrent effect for other officials, “explained Ida in a release received by Seputarpapua.com, Friday (23/12/2022).
Ida, who is also the administrator of the Papua Province Indonesian Christian Women's Association (PWKI), appreciated and supported the KPK's steps towards Lukas Enembe. According to him, with the Corruption Eradication Committee, corruption can be reduced.
Still according to him, the KPK will not be hasty in naming someone a suspect if it is not supported by strong evidence.
“The KPK is not random people. They will also face the law if they arrest random people,” said Ida.
To Governor Lukas Enembe, Ida asked Papua's number one person to have the courage to appear in public to declare his innocence. Instead of throwing opinions that he is right but while hiding.
“If (Luke) wants to state the truth, that there are no irregularities in his leadership, state it in public, so that his name will be good. But if you hide like this, what do you get? The righteous are brave, the wrong are hiding, that's all. Fear of being wrong, there is something to hide. It means that the correct one is the KPK," he said.
Ida hopes that Lukas, as a great leader, should also have a big heart, dare to admit mistakes. Luke must be an example for future Papuan leaders, that, if you want to be a great leader, don't be small in spirit.
"We don't want all (Papuan) figures to be branded like that," said Ida.
He also agreed that as long as volume I of special autonomy (Otsus) was rolling, supervision was very weak. He suggested that the monitoring system be seriously improved.
"The government should form a monitoring team in stages, starting from the provincial, district/city, district, down to the villages. Involve traditional leaders, churches, and women leaders," he concluded.
