The government of Manokwari Regency in West Papua Province provided incentives worth IDR 6 million each and Christmas gifts to 353 heads of neighborhood associations (RT) and neighborhood associations (RW) ahead of Christmas 2022 and 2023 New Year.
Manokwari Regent Hermus Indou in Manokwari, Tuesday, explained that the local government will provide incentives worth IDR 500,000 per month each to 272 RT heads and 81 RW heads in the 2022 fiscal year.
"This incentive is given to RT and RW considering that so far one of the successes of the regional government is related to the performance of RT and RW. It is hoped that in the future RT and RW will work more actively in paying attention to the people in their respective environments," said Hermus.
The Head of the Manokwari Regency Government Section, Samoel Aronggear, said that the RT and RW heads were required to be able to carry out two-way communication.
"Because they are a means to accommodate aspirations as well as a means of two-way communication with sub-districts and local government agencies," he said.
He argued that RT and RW heads must also be able to guide residents to live in harmony and encourage efforts to improve residents' welfare.
