Until now, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has not carried out a forced arrest against the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe, who is a suspect in a case of alleged bribery and gratuities related to a project originating from the APBD of the Papua Provincial Government (Pemprov).
KPK Deputy Chairman Alexander Marwata said that his party was still considering the public reaction that would arise if he was forced to pick up Lukas Enembe.
Alex said the KPK was worried that Lukas Enembe's forced pick-up would cause horizontal conflict in society.
"Later, if there is a horizontal conflict, we will worry too," said Alex when met by media crew at Thamrin Nine Ballroom, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (20/12/2020).
Alex revealed that when the investigation team, KPK chairman Firli Bahuri, and the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) team examined Lukas at his residence on Thursday (3/11/2022), a mob of supporters of the governor were still on guard around his house.
They carried a number of weapons. One of them is arrows.
"There are still many supporters there, carrying arrows and so on," said Alex.
As for Lukas, he has twice been absent from investigator summons.
He claimed to suffer from a number of diseases such as kidney failure, lung problems, heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and others.
Some time ago, through his lawyer, Lukas asked to be allowed to undergo treatment in Singapore.
Regarding this, Alex said that his party suggested that Lukas undergo the Gatot Subroto Army Central Hospital (RSPAD) Gatot Soebroto.
The granting of permission by the KPK will later refer to the results of recommendations from the RSPAD regarding whether Lukas really needs to undergo treatment in Singapore.
"We will definitely facilitate it, but the status is clear that we are holding the person concerned, then we will ban it if the person concerned is sick," said Alex.
Lukas is suspected of receiving bribes and gratuities related to projects originating from the APBD of the Papua Provincial Government.
Although he has not been arrested yet, the investigation into Lukas is continuing. The KPK summoned a number of witnesses, ranging from flight attendants and pilots from airline services hired by Lukas, car entrepreneurs, officials from the Papua Provincial Government, to contractors who won tenders for road construction projects.
Apart from that, the KPK has also searched a number of Lukas' residences in the Jabodetabek area. Investigators secured documents up to gold bars.
