Bulog: The stock of basic commodities in Manokwari is sufficient to face Nataru

Public Company Bulog Subdivre Manokwari ensures that stocks of basic necessities ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations in the Manokwari area and its surroundings are safe.

Head of Bulog Manokwari Subdivre Firman Mando said Thursday that the stock of rice in the Bulog Manokwari warehouse is certain to be sufficient for the next three months.

"As of today, there are around 2,000 tons of medium rice with stock resilience that can last up to 3 months so it can reach January 2023," he said.

Availability of sufficient rice stocks is an anticipation ahead of the religious day which Bulog has already prepared.

"Enough so that it can help people commemorate Christmas safely and peacefully because we always keep our stock available and add to it when entering a big day celebration like Nataru," he explained.

Apart from medium rice, Bulog also has stocks of premium rice with an available quantity of up to 100 tonnes which is also expected to last until January 2023.

Furthermore, the stock of sugar is 23 tons, cooking oil is 34 thousand liters and wheat flour is 23 tons.

"We are preparing this in order to stabilize prices at the consumer level so that it is hoped that it will help the community, especially in Manokwari, to obtain daily staples at quite affordable prices," he continued.

Until now, Bulog is still consistent with the price of necessities such as cooking oil (government subsidies) which is sold for oil at 14 thousand per liter, then granulated sugar at 14 thousand per kilo, for wheat flour at 14 thousand per kilo and premium rice at 11 thousand per kilo.

"So the price is very, very affordable for the community compared to prices on the market," he said

To buy it, Firman asked him to go directly to the office or through our food house partners (RPK) in the Wosi central market and Sanggeng market.

"Also in several sub-districts spread across Manokwari, we also usually work with those who sell Bulog products, of course, at the same price," he said.

Furthermore, Firman also said that Bulog Manokwari routinely conducts market operations to ensure that prices for basic necessities, especially rice, are sold at the Highest Retail Price (HET) set by the government.

"The government program is to stabilize prices, indeed we have collaborated with related parties to carry out supervision such as regional inflation control teams and food task forces in the regions," said Firman.
