Papuan Traditional Leaders: KPK Must Check Luke Enembe

Support for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to immediately examine Papua Governor Lukas Enembe came from the traditional head of Sekanto from Keerom, Didimus Werare.

Werare asked the KPK to immediately investigate Lukas Enembe and his cronies.

"KPK must examine Lukas Enembe and his closest officials so that all those related to corruption cases can be punished," he said in a written statement in Jakarta, Tuesday.

Werare appealed to Lukas Enembe to be aware and willing to be investigated by the KPK according to the law.

If Lukas feels right, said Werare, it will be immediately submitted to the KPK.

"We indigenous people will not intervene because we do not want any sacrifices to be in vain," he emphasized.

He reminded all Papuans to allow the KPK team to examine Lukas Enembe.

"There are no residents from the Keroom area who join Lukas Enembe, they work and live with their families," he said.

Previously, support was conveyed by the Head of the Daiget Tribe from Keerom, Papua, Servo Tuamis, who asked the Papuan People's Assembly (MRP) and the Papuan House of Representatives (DPRP) to facilitate the KPK to resolve the case of Lukas Enembe.

“The MRP and DPRP should approach traditional leaders from mountainous areas, such as Wamena, Tolikara, and other Papuan leaders in Jayapura. Make a written agreement, only then will Mr. Luke be examined," he said.

According to him, it is very possible to take this step, considering that the figures who sit in the two institutions chosen by the people are mostly from mountainous areas, so it will be easier for them to coordinate.
