The Jayapura Research and Training Center for Social Welfare (BPPKS) stated that the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) has sent logistics of 1480 packages of ready-to-eat food and 320 packages of children's food to Central Mamberamo, Papua, on Saturday (10/9/2022).
This was conveyed by the Head of the Jayapura Social Welfare Research and Training Center, Malik, through his written statement, Saturday (10/9/2022).
Malik said, according to the direction of the Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos), Tri Rismaharini, to immediately respond and help people affected by the earthquake in Central Mamberamo Regency.
"So we are coordinating with the Ministry of Social Affairs regarding the preparation of aid to be sent," he said.
According to Malik, his party together with the Directorate of Social Protection for Natural Disaster Victims directly coordinated with religious leaders namely Pastor Lipus Biniluk, Polres, Taruna Siaga Disaster (Tagana) and the local government for the delivery of logistical assistance as quickly as possible.
"So this afternoon at 15:00 WIT, the Ministry of Social Affairs sent disaster logistics at Balai Jayapura by air using the SAM Air Caravan aircraft and has now been sent," he said.
Malik emphasized that based on the results of the coordination carried out, the situation in Central Mamberamo was safe and under control after the 5.9 magnitude earthquake at 06.31 WIT, now the community has returned to normal activities as usual.
"However, to anticipate readiness and unknown conditions in the interior, we will send aid this afternoon," he said.
He added that the aid items sent had been received by the people of Kobagma in a district located in the highlands of Central Mamberamo Regency, Papua.
"The goods were immediately brought to the GIDI Church (Evangelical Church in Indonesia) Kobagma and have been recorded in the official report at the delivery location," he said again.
Meanwhile, the Reverend of GIDI Kobagma, Central Mamberamo Regency, Daniel Pagawak, said that the people in his area expressed their appreciation and gratitude.
"Central Mamberamo residents thank the minister of social affairs for the assistance that has been well received," he said.
Previously, it was known from a report from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) that an earthquake of magnitude (M) 5.9 occurred in Central Mamberamo, Papua.
The earthquake did not have the potential for a tsunami and was at an earthquake depth of 106 km with coordinates 2.02 latitude-138.32 east longitude (BT).
