The Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) claims that the development of digital infrastructure and the development of the digital ecosystem in Papua continues to be accelerated. This development is to support micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the provinces of Papua and West Papua.
Minister of Communications and Informatics Johnny G. Plate explained that through the Public Service Agency (BLU) BAKTI, Kominfo has built a 4G base transceiver station (BTS) tower. There will be 1,591 BTS in 2021 and this year 406 BTS will be built.
"We have also prepared and built internet access that is directly connected by satellite for 1,702 public service points in Papua and West Papua," Johnny said in a written statement on Wednesday, August 24, 2022.
As for the success of the National Movement for Proud Made in Indonesia (Gernas BBI) which is now centered in Papua, the Ministry of Communication and Information has built digital infrastructure and digital ecosystems through fiber optics, microwave links, fiber links, Base Transceiver Stations, satellites, and internet access throughout Papua. .
Johnny said Kominfo will provide assistance to digital MSMEs in Papua Province and West Papua Province. This year, he said, Kominfo will assist 110 MSME and UMi business actors. In addition, assistance was also provided to 200 tourism and creative economy actors in Papua through sustainable MSME training, English language training through digital platforms, and digital literacy.
With this program, he hopes that Papuan MSME products, such as fashion, craft, culinary products, can be elevated into high-value products.
Johnny then asked the Assistant Regional Secretary for the Papua Provincial Government and the West Papua Provincial Secretary to make the local government more active in involving the participation of local communities, especially indigenous Papuans.
