Warinussy: Papua Needs Deputy Governor

Executive director of the Manokwari Institute for Research, Assessment and Development of Legal Aid (LP3BH), Yan Christian Warinussy, asked the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe, to focus on his health, as his health condition is declining.

"People have seen it with the naked eye when the Governor of Papua Lukas Enembe gave a speech in front of President Joko Widodo at the opening of the PON which was well followed on TV broadcasts, the governor was sick," said Yan Christian Warinussy, Wednesday 1 December 2021.
 
For him, the central government has the ability to appoint an executor. However, Warinussy chimed in, if Governor Lukas Enembe remained as Governor of Papua, then a representative would need to accompany him.
 
“(Center) appoints someone who is considered capable of becoming a deputy governor. For example, Papuans at the center have the capacity. At this time, it is clear that the governor is in an ineffective condition in running the government,” he said.

So he continued, the governor needed a representative to carry out his duties, of course, for the sake of the Papuan people. "It's better to be humble, hand over the stick of government to those who can run a better government," he suggested.

Meanwhile, Warinussy also questioned the position of Deputy Governor which had not been filled. "The problem now is why the position of Deputy Governor is not filled? Who wants this? want the governor or the party coalition.”
 
According to him, related parties must provide answers so that the public can be clear.

"The governor needs a representative, it cannot be at the level of the Regional Secretary, the Regional Secretary is the executor of government and finance who has the task of providing input, consideration and support to the governor," he explained.

He explained that the Regional Secretary carries out technical functions, while the Deputy Governor or Governor carries out political functions. "Sekda takes care of government, financial management, assisted by Regional Apparatus."
