Jayapura culinary activists invite the community to use local food

Jayapura culinary activists invite the community to take advantage of local food in the vicinity to complete nutrition for children's growth and development.

Founder of Papua Jungle Chef Charles Toto told Antara in Jayapura, Thursday, that a child's growth and development is also influenced by their daily diet.

"So parents should not underestimate this," he said, who is familiarly called Chato.

According to Chato, the community must also pay attention to the surrounding environment, what plants are there, so that if you want to complement your child's nutrition, you can take it from the surrounding nature.

"Especially in Papua, local food is abundant, it's just a matter of how to make the most of it," he said.

He explained that it is hoped that by meeting the nutritional needs of children from nature or local food in the vicinity, they can also help maintain Papuan culture.

"If nature can take care of Papuan children by fulfilling their nutrition, then it is time to remember that nature must also be protected," he said again.

He added that by teaching Papuan children to take care of nature, they can help preserve Papua's nature from extinction due to cultural shifts.
