The Jayapura Regency Government handed over rural transportation to help Airu community transportation

The Jayapura Regency Government (Pemkab) through the Department of Transportation (Dishub) handed over a unit of rural transportation vehicle, to a BUMDes in Airu District, Jayapura Regency, in an effort to help the transportation needs of the village community.

The delivery of the transportation facility assistance was delivered at the same time as the Jayapura Regency Government's working visit to the Airu District, as well as a Christmas celebration with the community in Hulu Atas Village, Airu District, Monday (6/12/2021).

Head of the Jayapura Regency Transportation Service (Kadishub), Alfons Awoitauw said, in 2021 there are two important issues in preparing transportation modes that are a serious concern for the central government, in this case the Ministry of Transportation, namely land, river and air transportation modes.

"Last year we handed over two river transportation units [speedboats] for Naira and Pagai villages, which are expected to be a motivation for village heads to carry out the best service for the community," said Alfons in Sentani, Thursday (9/12/2021).

It is said, if all assistance is used properly, then from the results of the evaluation of the Transportation Team, especially those who prepare the basic infrastructure for transportation modes at the Ministry, will provide support and a lot of assistance to the community. Because the current orientation of the central government is equitable and comprehensive development to villages, and no longer to technical agencies.

"Therefore, accountability for the use of the facilities received must be made by the beneficiary, from a maintenance perspective we are not responsible because it has been granted," said Alfons.

Alfons said, Airu District is an area that the Ministry of Transportation is eyeing because on the land, river and air sides, this will definitely be the main attraction for some basic infrastructure that will be prepared in 2022-2023. This has been accommodated in the Transportation Master Plan (RIP), because there is a rest area and a pioneering airport to be built. The preparation of an airport area of 5 hectares as the first step from the 10 hectares prepared, at Bappenas has also been included in the rest area development scheme.

"In 2022, we hope that this area will be managed by the Ministry of Transportation, specifically the Director General of Land Transportation for the construction of a land terminal. The government is in charge of preparing the land," said Awoitauw.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Airu District, Jems Bano, admitted that he really appreciated the amount of assistance that had been provided by the regional government through technical agencies.

“The transportation support facilities, both land and river that have been provided, are highly coveted by all communities in a number of villages, not only the community but also the officers who work sincerely in providing services to the community, both in the fields of education and health. So that with these supporting facilities, it will greatly facilitate all service work carried out, both on land and in villages that are carried out via river transportation," he said.
