Welcome to the New Peparnas Champion




The 2021 National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) will spawn a new general champion. Papua as the host of a four-year national multi-pronged sports event specifically for athletes with disabilities is preparing to make history. This easternmost province will carve their name in the list of Peparnas champions.

Throughout the 15 times Peparnas was held, the winners were generally always dominated by teams from Java. West Java (West Java) and Central Java (Central Java) have won five times, followed by DKI Jakarta with four wins. Only the name South Sulawesi emerged as the overall champion when this event was held in Makassar, in 1975.

With two match days remaining, Papua will accompany the Wind Mamiri province, the nickname of South Sulawesi. As the new champion of the National Disabled Sports Week (Porcanas), the old name of Peparnas. Bumi Cenderawasih will also be side by side with the provinces that are subscribed to the Peparnas champions.

Papua, a province covering an area of ​​312,224 square kilometers, from the beginning has inflamed its determination to become the overall champion in its own land. At the same time burying West Java's dream of defending the title it won in 2016. As in the 2021 National Sports Week event, at Peparnas Papua also fielded the most athletes, namely 280 athletes.

The athletes managed to bring Papua to the lead in the medal standings since the first day of the competition. Namely after Peparnas was officially opened by Vice President Ma'ruf Amin at the Mandala Stadium, Jayapura City, Saturday (2/11/2021) night.

As of Friday (12/11/2021) at 07.30 WIT, Papua was still leading the provisional medal tally with 92 gold, 55 silver, 60 bronze and left defending champion West Java in second place with a very large gold difference, 25 pieces.

West Java has won 67 gold, 63 silver, 52 bronze followed by Central Java (64 gold, 40 silver and 53 bronze), and South Kalimantan (33 gold, 25 silver, 37 bronze). Following behind him are the Peparnas 2024 hosts, North Sumatra (23 gold, 24 silver, 11 bronze), and DKI Jakarta (19 gold, 21 silver, 28 bronze).

In the top 7-10, there are Riau (18 gold, 22 silver, 26 bronze), the Special Region of Yogyakarta (10 gold, 16 silver, 21 bronze), South Sumatra (nine gold, 15 silver, 11 bronze), and East Java (seven gold). gold, 15 silver, 11 bronze).

The athletic track branch of the Lukas Enembe Stadium and Arena is no longer a gold harvesting area for the Papuan contingent. Meanwhile, the West Java contingent gained a lot of gold medals from the swimming pool arena. It was recorded that there were eight gold medals successfully stolen by Bumi Pasundan swimmers in Thursday's match. Four of the swimmers were able to set a national record, including Naila Puja Rislani.

The swimmer who competed in the women's 200m freestyle S15 S15 and women's 50m butterfly S15 successfully sharpened her national record in the two events she participated in. In the women's S15 freestyle, Naila recorded a time of two minutes 38.98 seconds and sharpened Endang P's old national record which was created during the 2016 Peparnas which was three minutes, 07.23 seconds.

Then in the women's 50 meter S15 butterfly, she again set a new national record with a time of 35.32 seconds. He corrected Zalfa Dhiyaul Haq's old 39.05 second record which was inscribed at the 2016 Peparnas.

The Bangka Belitung and Central Kalimantan contingents were finally able to each win a piece of gold last Thursday. So that leaves seven more provinces that have not received gold. A total of four contingents of which have not even won a medal.

So far, the 2021 Peparnas Grand Committee has distributed 389 gold, 387 silver and 379 bronze. Overall, PB Peparnas has prepared 2,812 medals consisting of 861 gold, 861 silver, and 1,090 bronze which are ready to be contested in 640 race numbers. Peparnas Papua participants will compete in 12 sports in 12 venues located in Jayapura City and Jayapura Regency.

President Joko Widodo is planning to close the Papua National Park Forum at the Mandala Stadium, Jayapura City, Saturday (11/13/2021) night. In the afternoon, it is planned that the President will participate in watching and draping the medal in badminton which is competing at the Cenderawasih Gymnasium, Jayapura City.
