HEAD OF AYAU ISLANDS DISTRICT, KAB. RAJA AMPAT: OTSUS GIVES HOPE FOR OAP

The government and the DPR have ratified the results of the revision of the Law on Special Autonomy (Otsus) for Papua. During the 20 years of Otsus, many things have been achieved, but there are also things that need to be improved. One example that needs improvement is concerning the equitable distribution of development among districts/cities in the Provinces of Papua and West Papua.

Felix Dimara as the Head of the Ayau Islands District assessed that the implementation of Otsus was quite good because it facilitated the reach of development in several fields so that it could meet the interests of the Papuan people.

The growing issue of pros and cons for the sustainability of Otsus in the community, Felix said that the community must evaluate it objectively. "The government must also reconsider and review which parts are weak and must be improved," said Felix.

He also thanked the Government for its efforts to improve the community's economy and provide health services and increase OAP's human resources in Papua, especially in the Ayau Islands District.

He also said that with the ratification of Otsus, the daily life of the community is also guaranteed, especially in the situation of the Covid-19 Pandemic, which we all don't know when it will end.

"With the Special Autonomy program and other assistance provided by the Government for the OAP community, it is very useful," he said

He also said that he was very supportive of the ratification of the sustainability of the Special Autonomy program in Tanah Papua in order to encourage the improvement of the welfare of the Papuan people, especially OAP. With the Special Autonomy Fund, the continuity of education and health for the people in Kab. Raja Ampat has been very beneficial so far.
