Special Autonomy (Otsus) is one of the government's priority programs in Papua and West Papua in the context of realizing a more prosperous Land of Papua.
Rev. Daniel Sukan M.Th, (Chairman of the General Assembly of the Indonesian GPAI Synod), Manokwari Regency said that development in Papua still needs the support of Special Autonomy. "Otsus must not stop, I strongly support Otsus to be continued for the benefit of indigenous Papuans," he said.
According to Pdt. Daniel, for 20 years Otsus has provided very tangible impacts and benefits in various sectors, both in the fields of education, health, economy, quality of human resources, as well as the development of other supporting infrastructure.
He invited all Papuans to jointly support the sustainability of Otsus for the progress of the Land of Papua. "Let's together build Indonesia from Papua," he said.
Rev. Daniel also appealed to the community to always prioritize tolerance, maintain harmony and peace between communities. "It is very important to always be aware of the notions of radicalism and separatism that can divide the unity and integrity of the nation," he concluded.
